A great outburst produced the performance in the Havana of the great tenor Italian Enrico Caruso, most not was only of enthusiasm.

It was 1920 when it arose on the stage of the National Theatre an opera season with the presence of Caruso, the most popular singer of the early years of the 20th century, who possessed a powerful voice and great beauty.

Lovers of the “bel canto” were of Manana, as well as those who went to display publicly, and which went to show the last model arrived from Paris…

The season was developing happily. Caruso chose the opera Aida of the composer Giuseppe Verdi for end his performance, as farewell of them Havana, equal that the program of the Television Cuban of the great scene in its theme of closing.

The stage was ready. The room was crowded. Enrico ended of sing the second scene of the first Act, when exploded a bomb that shook the theatre.

The public was altered course, but remained in their seats. However, behind the scene ensued the panic. Some musicians ran onto the street, others went with the music elsewhere, all dressed in Egyptian outfits… but… and the great Caruso is where? As Caruso, dress of Radames, the Egyptian, ran quickly along all the walk of the Prado, before it look surprised of them passers-by, that not atinaban to understand because that person dressed so outlandishly, ran as crazy without be pursued by anyone.

Thus it became to the Seville Hotel where he was staying. His career for the habanero prado – can say – was not exactly a “triumphal March” to the Aida.
